1978

Isn't this photo AWESOME? It's my Mum and Dad in 1978, they were soooo young! Like 17 or 18! I think it's hilarious!! Love the denim on denim and the retro wallpaper + cupboards! Mum sent it to me when I asked for a photo to go with this playlist (below!), inspired by the records Mum and Dad used to play all the time. Me and Hayley never liked their music and Dad would always be like, "Oh come on! You'll like this one...." and we would be like "Nooo....turn it offf....put our music on..." (Tool and Metallica!!! Hahaaa) Though I did used to borrow one of Dad's Led Zeppelin albums and compare the Tool cover of No Quarter to the original over and over a few times... :p

I know Mum and Dad are gunna read this and laugh and say Told You So! So I'll write it quick and go eat some humble pie......Soooo I-guess-your-music-was-actually-pretty-cool-and-I-kinda-really-want-your-record-collection-so-please-keep-them-safe-and-don't-give-them-away-and-I'm-sorry-we-called-it-crappy-music-and-here-you-go-now-you-can-listen-to-your-music-on-the-computer....!! (Skype me and I'll teach you how! :p)

The first two tracks are the only two songs I remember from a mix tape Dad had from who knows when, and me and Hayley used to listen to it on our tape player!
The rest of the songs span over 20 years and are ones that Mum and Dad would blast on the record player or sing around the house. I'm interested to see if any of them are way off left field though! Like, umm Zoe, I hate that song, why is it on there....

Let me know if you listen to it! :)

We used to have a video of me and Hayley in our walkers dancing to Three Little Birds.... wonder if we still have it? Psstt... Hayley sent me some scans of twin-baby-us photos, I'm kindof keen to share some... yeah or nah?

Peek At My Week #10: Music Edition!

I went to do my Peek at the Week post and realised I took NO photos!! (Well, one, and I'll share it at the bottom haha!) All week! I didn't really do anything amazing this week, just designing up a storm and everyday stuff, so there was no fun pictures to share :(

So instead, I put together a little playlist of some bands I've pretty much had on repeat all week!

Hope you like it!
This is the photo I took on my phone because I thought it was SO weird! It's an Easter Nest! Bread with a coloured hard-boiled egg sitting in it!! EW!! Have you ever seen anything like it?!

NZ Love #8: Summer Beats- Shapeshifter

NZ Love: NZ drum + bass band Shapeshifter.

Kicking it off with some eye candy! You like? But just wait til you go visit their website and you can see these in motion! Seriously- go check it out if you haven't already seen it, I think I could spend aaaages just watching all the pretty shapes moving to the music. If you're a design nerd or just love pretty moving things, go see, and you can even capture yourself an amazing new wallpaper! (Like the ones above) The website was done by clever guys at Resn in Wellington (♥)

So anyway.... I wanted to feature Shapeshifter for NZ Love this week because apart from- they are awesome- we went to their Wellington concert like 2 weeks before we left NZ (thanks to Steve's tricky workmates Mirko and Ryan!) And- they always remind me of Summer parties or barbeques on our lawn at our little old Mount Victoria villa!
Now that the weathers getting warmer (here anyway...!) I'm in the mood for some Summer beats- NZ has quite a few awesome bands that make me think of Summer so I'll try share them with you :)
So if you're in the Northern hemisphere have a listen to their tracks, preferably on a sunny patch of grass with a cold beer. And if you're in the Southern hemisphere (NZ!) blast it so loud you forget it's getting chilly! Have a listen (at their pretty website or below) even if you're not a huge drum and bass fan (I'm not really but I love these guys)
I *think* they actually moved to Berlin- making it big in Europe- yeah! Hopefully I'll find a show round here soon.

Quote Series #5 : Marching Bands of Manhattan

This weeks quote is from lyrics of a song by one of my fave bands in the world- Death Cab for Cutie :)
I found out yesterday that they are doing a Europe tour soon and they're coming to Germany! I've seriously been waiting for yeeears to see these guys, checking their website for tour updates all the time, and yesterday I finally found some shows I could actually go to!! I don't think I've ever been this excited about seeing a band :) So here is a little design of some lyrics I really like- with some happy, cheerful colours cos I. CAN'T. WAIT. :)

Happy Weekend!!!
