Pretty ♥ Pretty #11: In Love With Alphonse Mucha
My obsession with Alphonse Mucha paintings was rekindled when we found a man selling prints at a market in Prague last week. Mucha was a Czech artist so tourist shops in Prague seem to have taken advantage of that and sell postcards and other bits with prints on them. Mucha has to be one of my all-time faves, and I can see his influence in some of my fave contemporary illustrators work, too. I love the Art Nouveau curves and typefaces, the floral patterns and flowy gowns. I especially love the way he painted hair, and don't get me started on the colours..... I could pretty much turn my house into a Mucha museum one day I think, just so I could stare at them all day.
I bought about 6 postcard prints, then when Steve said he liked them too, well, we HAD to buy a set of A3 prints. Usually he's not too fussed about my girly taste in art, so I was SO excited that he liked them and we spent ages choosing which set to get! I'm way too indecisive sometimes and I was overwhelmed with prettiness so I'm glad he helped choose....we got the Flowers set (just above) I think they're a perfect balance of super-feminine and classic, with some nice strong lines.
But, I still want them all! :p
