Eurotrip: Vienna
Like all the cities we visit, I managed to take 30 bajillion photos in Vienna, but I've just picked a few to share! I loved Vienna, I *think* it was my fave city of our trip. The Schonnbrunn Palace was amazing, it's greenhouses were the prettiest things I've ever seen, and the schnitzel was sooo good! Amy joined us from Budapest on our second day in Vienna and we made sure to see all the sights.
We did a bike tour and made a new friend, Brian from Chicago, then ticked off Stephansdom (huge old church) and that night we went to Prater, a fairground kind of area.
We went to Prater in the evening, it's kindof like a fairground with rides and sideshows and things. Amy and Steve went on an upside-down roller-coater-esque thing but I don't do rides (chicken!) so I watched, and then made Steve go with me on the Flower Ferris Wheel :) We also went on the Wiener Riesenrad which is a ferris wheel built in 1897!!It has closed compartments and it takes 20 minutes to go right around, you can even book dinners or meetings in them and just go round and round!
The one downside of our stay in Vienna? Staying in a hostel with an old Russian man/pirate who snored like a T-Rex and also slept naked, as I found out in the morning. Just WRONG. Who does that?? In a hostel?? Luckily it was just for one night, we switched rooms so Amy had a bed.
But I would love to go back to Vienna again and spend more time there (maybe shopping?) and finding some more cute little side streets (to dodge the tourist groups on the main drag.)
Oh! and thanks so much to Jenni who used to live there, she sent me a lovely big email about things to do in Vienna! She's an American girl who blogs about living in Germany and Austria and I love reading her stories!
The next part of our Eurotrip is Prague! I'll blog about it sometime next week :)
